While growing up on a mushroom farm, James Crouch and his brother appreciated the health benefits of mushrooms since they had seen the benefits firsthand. In 2009, they created BIXBI with the mission to give pets the best nutrition possible by using ingredients that can impact an animal’s health. BIXBI became the first pet brand to launch a line of supplements focused on the benefits of organic mushrooms for dogs and cats.
As mushrooms grow, they absorb the toxins and pollutants of their environment. That’s why BIXBI mushrooms are grown under highly controlled laboratory conditions. The air in the lab is triple filtered, and the crop is third-party tested quarterly for over 130 toxins and contaminants. In addition, the mushrooms are exclusively grown in Certified Organic Sorghum that’s gluten free and has a guaranteed 95 percent conversion rate, which means that the mushrooms digest 95 percent of the sorghum and the final product only has 5 percent sorghum.
