Latest Certification Bolsters Trust in Pet Releaf’s CBD Products

As a responsible producer of hemp-derived CBD oils, capsules and chews for cats and dogs, Pet Releaf views itself not only as a leader in this field but as “educators in this industry,” says Steve Smith, a co-founder of the Colorado-based company and also its president.

“Pet Releaf wants pet families to understand that not all CBD products are created equal,” said Smith. “High-quality CBD products are completely safe for pets, but quality must be verified.”

In-mid August, Pet Releaf was issued a certificate of compliance from the U.S. Hemp Authority. As such, it is the first pet-only CBD product company to achieve this status, says Smith, who sits on the board of the USHA Roundtable, which backed the third-party initiative in conjunction with the Hemp Industries Association. The USHA certification program is an industry initiative “to provide high standards, best practices and self-regulation, giving confidence to consumers and law enforcement that hemp products are safe and legal,” according to the U.S. Hemp Authority website.

“Because both our farming partners and our hemp processing partners are USHA certified, Pet Releaf only needed to certify our manufacturing processes,” explained Smith. “This includes warehouse operations, distribution operations, packaging and labeling. We’ve hand-selected the best partners in the industry and have gone to great lengths to control our reputation by focusing on quality. That’s why Pet Releaf is trusted by so many.”

Part of that trust can be attributed to Pet Releaf’s USDA Organic certification for its proprietary strain of hemp and its monthly third-party testing for the legal levels of cannabidiol (the medical component) and tetrahydrocannabinol (the psychoactive component).Pet Releaf_December 2019 native_lifestyle 2

“It is a federal offense to claim organic or organically farmed unless a product has been certified USDA organic,” said Smith. “Our laboratories test for guaranteed potency, CBD and THC levels, and to prove no toxic solvents or chemicals were used in our extraction process. We believe in full transparency, and by providing our test results on our website, we guarantee satisfaction and peace of mind.”

One of Pet Releaf’s recent product lines is The Barking Dog Collection, which features special edition packaging. It’s a Manhattan-themed cuisine version of Edibites, an all-natural, full-spectrum daily CBD supplement for dogs, dedicated to late New York artist Keith Haring. The “downtown” Pizza flavor “makes four-legged friends a part of family pizza night with ingredients like organic stone-milled garbanzo flour and organic oregano flakes,” says Smith, while the “uptown” Sushi variety gives dogs “the same flavors and health benefits of an Upper West Side sushi meal, delivering valuable omega-3s and DHA via healthy ingredients like ethically sourced wild red pollock oil.”

Developed in partnership with Plant Alchemy, which makes premium botanical products, Pet Releaf’s Edibites Barking Dog Collection will raise awareness for animal rescue and sponsor events that assist animal rescue shelters around the country in support of their joint mission, says Smith.

“Pet Releaf has an exciting new line of products planned for 2020,” he added. “Retailers and customers alike should expect to see some new and innovative products beginning in early 2020, [such as] products for different mammals, new product formulations and new methods of administration.”
