Whether you want to train your pets or just offer them something extra, treats are stimulating rewards that give them a boost in their daily activities and diet. This is no different when it comes to birds. Treats provide feathered companions with additional proteins, vitamins and other minerals necessary for their overall health, but in a way that is entertaining and enjoyable for both bird and owner, without tarnishing their regular diet.

Because birds are very intelligent animals, they can be trained to perform a variety of tricks. And while many birds enjoy the training session and consider the interaction itself a reward, some birds require more incentive. Treats are an excellent way to coax reluctant birds and to establish and reinforce positive behavior. They also strengthen the bond between bird and owner.

With an array of treats for birds on the market, retailers should interact with consumers one-on-one to gauge their bird’s preferences and personality in order to direct them to the treat product that best fits their bird’s tastes.

For example, if their parakeet is a picky eater or has a favorite flavor or has a specific dietary need, grabbing any treat product for parakeets may not be beneficial. And even if that bird has a primary preference for a specific kind of treat, it’s important to provide them with a variety of options for a well-rounded diet. It is vitally important that retailers reinforce this to their bird-owning customers. In addition, a pet store’s sales staff should educate customers on the proper way of introducing new treats to birds, which is gradually, and encourage bird owners to keep a fairly consistent treat schedule.

There are plenty of exciting treat manufacturers in the avian sector of the industry. These products are a selection of treats offering rich ingredients that birds crave and need, satisfying even the pickiest of eaters and the most cautious of bird owners. And with different flavors, sizes and types, these treats offer the variety necessary for their diets. In addition, these products keep the fun in treat time, so both bird and owner are happy and stimulated.
