With kitten season in full swing, rescues and shelters are trying to do all they can to help raise awareness for cats in need of adoption as well as what everyone in the community can do to help community cats. Walking Palm, a pet product company out of Nashville, Tennessee, has made it a priority to help raise awareness for shelters within its own community and wherever possible.

One way Walking Palm is working to achieve this is by donating its all-natural wool cat caves to shelters for the cats to use or as giveaways to help raise donations for local rescues. The wool caves are designed to be a place where cats can burrow, rest, feel safe and call their own. The beds are handmade in Nepal using wool from New Zealand, and because they are made of wool, that means they are also water-repellent.

Alonzo Guess, co-owner of Walking Palm, stresses the importance he feels to raising awareness for rescue cats.

“Living in a growing city such as Nashville, community cat populations are on the rise seemingly every day,” he said. “We have made it our responsibility to do what we can to partner with local rescues under one goal, to raise awareness for cats in need of adoption. We designed our caves to provide cats in shelters with a safe and comforting place for them.”

Uniting with the same vision, Walking Palm and Nashville Cat Rescue (NCR), a local rescue which has helped more than 7,000 rescue cats find loving homes, have partnered to help NCR find adoption families. In May, NCR employed its mobile cat adoption unit, the Catmobile, as part of PetSmart Charities’ national adoption weekend. Walking Palm provided caves as a giveaway to contestants for donating to the shelter.

“We love partnering with Walking Palm, based in our great city of Nashville, because they strongly support rescue efforts,” said Kelly Patton, volunteer coordinator for NCR who has worked with Walking Palm on various projects. “And our kitties love the cat caves!”

Walking Palm will be at SuperZoo in Las Vegas this month at booth #3213.
