Detroit Lions Punter Sam Martin Holds Halloween Pet Costume Contest

October 24, 2016

Halloween is coming, and that means we should start seeing some really great pet costumes—and we know pet owners love their pet costumes! In fact, Pet Age reported that consumers spent $350 million on pet costumes last year. Now there is a way for pet owners to show off their pets’ costumes and get a little competitive with it.

For the second year, Detroit Lions punter Sam Martin is holding a Halloween pet costume contest. But the contest is not just to see which pet has the most creative costume. The social media contest is also being held to help pets in need.

For every entry, Martin will donate $6 to the Michigan Humane Society, and Premier Pet Supply will donate 6 pounds of dog food to the society.

Those wishing to enter can post a picture of their costumed pet to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag, #KickOrTreatfor6. Pet owners have until Thursday, October 27, to post the photo, for on the 28th, Martin will pick what he thinks is the most creative costume.

The first place winner will receive four tickets to a Lions game and free pet food for a year, second place will win two tickets to a Lions game and a Premier Pet Supply gift car and third place will receive a Premier Pet Supply gift card.
