‘Rumor’ Wins Best in Show at Westminster KC Dog Show

The Westminster Kennel Club has announced the winners of its annual two-night competition, which culminated in a German Shephard named Rumor receiving the coveted “Best in Show” title.

GCh. Ch. Lockenhaus’ Rumor Has It V Kenlyn was awarded “Best in Show” in New York City on February 14, 2017. The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is presented by Purina Pro Plan and was hosted at Madison Square Garden on February 13 and 14. Thomas H. Bradley III delivered the decision. Rumor was also awarded the Best in Show title at the AKC National Championship in 2015.rumor 2

“The German Shepherd Dog standard talks about quality and nobility,” said Bradley of Rumor, as reported by Randa Kriss for the AKC News website. “Sometimes unrecognizable, but when you recognize it, it hits you home and that’s whatit really is. She is just magnificent.”

 

Over the course of the show, group winners and “Reserve Best in Show” titles were also awarded to the following contestants, per AKC News:

Reserve Best in Show: GCh. Ch. Vermilion’s Sea Breeze, an Irish Setter known as “Adrian,” owned by Sandra Nordstrom, Bruce and Mary Foote.

Sporting: GCh. Ch. Vermilion’s Sea Breeze, an Irish Setter known as “Adrian,” owned by Sandra Nordstrom, Bruce and Mary Foote.

Hound: GCh. Ch. Vin-Melca’s Daggarwood Delight, a Norwegian Elkhound known as “Duffy,” owned by Patrica V Trotter.

Working: GCh. Ch. Mephisto’s Speak of the Devil, a Boxer known as “Devlin,” owned by Mrs. Jack Billhardt and Sergio Tenenbaum.

Terrier: GCHS Ch. Taliesin Twice As Nice, a Norwich Terrier known as “Tanner,” owned by Lisa and John Sons and Joan Eckert.

Toy: GCHB Ch. Pequest Pickwick, a Pekingese known as “Chuckie,” owned by David Fitzpatrick.

Non-Sporting: GCHB Ch. Danfour Avalon As If, a Miniature Poodle known as “Aftin,” owned by Daniel Chavez, James Moses and Janet Moses.

Herding: GCh. Ch. Lockenhaus’ Rumor Has It V Kenlyn, a German Shepherd Dog known as “Rumor,” owned by Deborah Stern, Pamela Buckles, Patti Dukeman, Pam McElheney and Kent Boyles.

Other events featured as a part of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this year included AKC Meet the Breeds, Masters Agility Championship Finals, Masters Obedience Championship Finals, and Junior Showmanship Finals.
