Earthborn Holistic Pet Food, a premium pet food brand owned by Midwestern Pet Foods, always strives toward sustainability.
Here are a couple of ways the brand focuses on their environmental impact.
Through the brands’ UPCs for Trees program, Earthborn Holistic partners with Trees for the Future to plant trees in deforested areas around the world. Customers collect UPCs from empty bags of Earthborn Holistic products and return them to local participating retailers or mail them in to a designated collection site. In return, trees are planted to create forest gardens worldwide. One returned UPC equals one tree planted.
“Since 2009, we’ve planted over one million trees through our program and helped put over 4,000 people on the pathway out of hunger and poverty,” said Brandi Kramer, Midwestern Pet Foods Marketing Manager.
Earthborn Holistic packaging is also made with a better planet in mind! All Earthborn Holistic dog & cat food packaging is made of 25% recycled material, using the ISCC mass balance approach. The mass balance approach is crucial in tracking material flow in the chemical industry, enabling progress towards a circular and bio-based economy.
With their TerraCycle partnership, Earthborn Holistic pet food & treat bags are 100% recyclable through the Earthborn ReBorn Program. Consumers drop off empty bags at participating retailers for recycling and upcycling all at company expense. The brand has reached 2,000,000 bags recycled. This is equal to keeping 206,772 lbs of waste out of the landfill.
“Earthborn Holistic is so proud to have such great environmental initiatives in place. We express a big thank you to all of our loyal customers and retailers who make these programs thrive,” said Kramer. “At Midwestern Pet Foods, we love producing nutritious food for pets while simultaneously supporting sustainability.”
