IndiePet Retail Association Launches Indie Cares Task Force, Independent Pet Initiative

IndiePet, the leading advocate for independent pet retailers, has announced the formation of an Indie Cares Task Force to explore the best ways to offer support to independent pet retailers navigating through weather emergencies and physical disasters that impact their store’s ability to operate.

The mission of IndiePet is to empower independent and neighborhood pet retailers to work together as peers for the wellbeing of North American pets and pet owners as they maintain a strong, sustainable and growing place at the heart of the pet industry.

As extreme weather events and unforeseen disruptions continue to challenge small businesses, IndiePet recognizes the need for a structured support system that helps independent pet retailers remain resilient.

The Indie Cares Task Force is working to identify and develop a range of resources, including emergency preparedness guidance, financial aid opportunities, supply chain support and recovery assistance, helping ensure that independent pet retailers will be able to continue serving their communities in times of crisis.

In addition, the Indie Cares Task Force is inviting participation from across the pet industry; including manufacturers, brands, distribution, and retail to get involved.

The Indie Cares program will offer:

• Emergency Preparedness Resources – Proactive guidance to help stores plan for severe weather and other disruptions.
• Financial Assistance & Relief Efforts – Access to funding and relief programs designed to help retailers recover from operational setbacks.
• Supply Chain & Inventory Support – Assistance in securing essential products and working with vendors to restore inventory quickly.
• Peer & Industry Support Network – A collaborative community of fellow independent retailers and industry partners sharing best practices and real-time solutions.
