Press release: APPA

The American Pet Products Association (APPA) is pleased to announce it has acquired The Pet Summit, an educational conference and online platform dedicated to bringing together pet industry stakeholders. The deal comes at a time when APPA is looking to advance its member offerings and diversify the association’s services.

Founded by pet industry entrepreneurs Paige Chernick and Megan Macari in 2020, The Pet Summit has offered more than 150 educational classes, workshops, live panels, Q&A sessions and more for a specific niche of individuals in the pet industry: pet influencers, social media managers, brand owners and bloggers. Its goal is to help bring together these stakeholders to learn, inspire, network, raise awareness and build a stronger community together.

“The Pet Summit represents every pet parent, business owner, rescue organization, influencer, blogger or pet-related website that wants to grow their following, start a business, learn the dos and don’ts of partnerships, elevate their content for better engagement and more,” said APPA chief growth officer Jeremy Baker. “We are extremely pleased to not only work more closely with these individuals and entities across the broader pet care community through this acquisition, but to also extend new educational resources and networking opportunities to APPA members. We believe this acquisition is a seamless fit that will open the door to new audiences and prospects to drive success for both organizations as we continue to strive to expand APPA’s member services.”

The new partnership between APPA and The Pet Summit kicked off with an event in late October. Held at the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in New York City, the networking and fundraising event gathered APPA members, pet influencers and their human managers, alongside APPA board members and staff from each organization. Attendees raised money to benefit the GALS Foundation, which provides food pantries, vaccinations, health care and spay/neuter clinics for dogs in underserved rural communities.

APPA is renowned for its mission to promote responsible pet care and advance the pet products industry. Throughout its more than 60-year history, APPA has built a network of members across large corporations and growing business enterprises worldwide. The trade association is made up of nearly 1,000 pet product manufacturers, their representatives, importers and livestock suppliers. APPA, along with the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA), co-produces Global Pet Expo, featuring thousands of new product launches in the pet and animal health space.
