Press release: Grandma Lucy’s

Grandma Lucy’s—one of the nation’s last remaining family-owned and operated small-batch pet food companies, known for its unique freeze-drying process which preserves the integrity of food and avoids compromising its nutrients, vitamins, color, texture or taste—launches the latest addition to its award-winning product line at SuperZoo. Exhibiting in booth #1870 at the show, Grandma Lucy’s is introducing Moxie—a family-safe food that is ideal for pet-parents who appreciate the health benefits of raw food diets like shinier coats, healthy skin, higher energy or reduced allergies, but for various reasons aren’t comfortable feeding raw meat to their pets.

“As pet parents, parents and pet food manufacturers, we are committed to creating food options with, non-GMO ingredients that are simple, easy to understand, and most importantly, of highest human-grade quality. If it’s not good enough for humans to eat, it will never be included in our products,” said Breann Shook, co-founder and owner of Grandma Lucy’s. “We are proud to introduce Moxie at SuperZoo this year. It’s a wonderful alternative for families who would like the benefits of feeding raw food without actually doing so. Those with newborns in the house who are careful about raw meat coming in contact with the baby when the dog licks them after eating, or those with service animals in immunocompromised households can really benefit from this product. Others will just love it because it’s delicious!”

Moxie is a freeze-dried dog and cat food that acts as a scoop and serve meal or mixer for pets. Ideal for pets of all life stages, Moxie is made with human-quality meat, packed with high protein (93-percent) and a great source of fruits and vegetables (6-percent). As a grain-free, high protein “keto-like” diet, Moxie promotes overall pet health, including a shinier coat, healthier skin, higher energy and reduced allergies. Varieties of Moxie include a beef, chicken and turkey recipe. At a price point that is almost 20 percent less than other freeze-dried, high-protein diets, the product is currently being rolled out to specialty pet food stores nationwide.

Several of the brand’s other popular pet food and treat products are also on display at the booth, including:

  • Artisan, an original Grandma Lucy’s product, provides pets a grain-free, single-source protein diet. This meal is blended with russet potatoes, flax, vegetables, fruits, vitamins and minerals. Artisan provides relief for dogs with irritable bowel disease (IBD) and works well as an introductory food for dogs transitioning from kibble or canned to home-prepared foods. Varieties of Artisan include chicken, pork, lamb, venison, and pre-mix.
  • Pureformance has a low glycemic index with the inclusion of chickpeas, which release energy into the body slowly to help maintain a consistent energy level. Packed full of fiber, high in antioxidants and rich in folate, the chickpeas are blended with fresh meats, vegetables, fruits, vitamins and minerals to ensure a healthy diet. This product is gluten-free and supports diets of high-performance dogs as well as a dietary solution for dogs with skin issues, ear issues and red paws. Moreover, the formula works for weight control and is friendly for dogs with diabetes and pancreatitis. Varieties of Pureformance include chicken, lamb, rabbit, fish, goat and pre-mix.
  • Macanna is an anti-inflammatory food made with pinto beans, hemp hearts, coconut, kale and turmeric. Voted one of the Top 3 Dog Foods by Pet Age, Macanna is trending as a superfood for pets. It works well as a dietary solution for dogs with skin, ear, digestive or inflammatory issues.
