Original Founder Darcy Bomford Acquires True Leaf Pet Care Brand

The True Leaf brand of pet supplements, brought to the market in 2016 and sold to Canada Pet Health Technology in 2020, has been acquired by Trueleaf Petcare Inc., a company led by the brand’s founder, Darcy Bomford. 

The brand was one of the earliest hemp-focused pet supplements to enter the U.S. market and receive certification from the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) at the beginning of the cannabis ‘green rush’ in 2016. The company spearheaded the use of hemp seed in combination with other plant-based active ingredients to provide calming, mobility and immune support for dogs and cats. The company later introduced a line of natural remedies utilizing oil-of-oregano to support oral, immune, and skin health. The deal officially closed on January 30, 2023.

Joining Bomford on the True Leaf team are industry veterans Daniela Fischer, vice president of quality, regulatory, R&D, Lindsey Eadie, operations, marketing and sales and Ruth Brennan, controller. 

The team is currently building inventory with new manufacturing partners and will operate out of its head office located in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. Bomford is currently attending the Global Pet Expo, March 22-24, 2023, in Orlando, Florida. He is available to speak to the media about the brand’s next phase of growth.
