IndiePet Launches IndieCares Program for Retailers Facing Weather Emergencies, Disruptions

IndiePet, the leading advocate for independent , has introduced IndieCares, a program for independent pet retailers navigating weather emergencies and physical disasters that impact their store’s ability to operate.

As extreme weather events and unforeseen disruptions continue to challenge small businesses, IndiePet recognizes the need for a structured support system that helps independent pet retailers remain resilient.

IndieCares was developed to address store preparedness, planning, and recovery. The task force of IndiePet members who worked to create this program are retailers, distributors, service providers and manufacturers – all have first-hand experience with weather-related business disruptions.

The program aims to provide a range of resources, including emergency preparedness guidance, financial aid opportunities, supply chain support, and recovery assistance to help ensure that independent pet retailers will be able to continue serving their communities in times of crisis.

IndiePet welcomes participation from across the pet industry – manufacturers, brands, distribution and retail are all invited to get involved.

“Independent pet retailers are the heart of their communities, providing essential products and expertise to pet parents,” said Claudia Loomis, owner of six CB Pet Market stores in New Jersey and a newly elected IndiePet board member. “With IndieCares, we’re stepping up to support these businesses when they need it most, helping them recover and rebuild in the face of adversity.”

The IndieCares program offers:

  • Emergency Preparedness Resources – Proactive guidance to help stores plan for severe weather and other disruptions.
  • Financial Assistance & Relief Efforts – Potential access to funding and relief programs to help retailers recover from operational setbacks.
  • Supply Chain & Inventory Support – Assistance in securing essential products and working with vendors to restore inventory quickly.
  • Peer & Industry Support Network – A collaborative community of fellow and industry partners sharing best practices and real-time solutions.
