Biota Aquariums Start-Up to Launch Aquarium Kits

Biota Aquariums, a start-up company founded by biologists Kevin Gaines and Tom Bowling, will launch aquarium kits intended to entice novices into the fish-keeping hobby.

With the goal of creating successful new marine enthusiasts, the Biota Aquarium comes complete with three sustainably sourced fish and several soft coral options. The fish and corals are pre-selected to thrive in the 12 gallon Biota Aquarium ecosystem.

The complete kit will include products from Fluval, Two Little Fishies and Real Rock Reef and cultured species from ORA and the Biota Marine Life Nursery. Consumers will purchase the tank, set it up, and then activate a livestock code to receive their live rock, fish and corals.

The system also hopes to end issues with the commercial availability of healthy livestock negatively impacting a consumer’s first experience. By eliminating multiple chain of custodies, the fish and corals are conditioned and delivered without the usual exposure to numerous holding systems with many different types of bacteria and parasites that are present in the trade.
