According to the 2021-2022 APPA National Pet Owners Survey, 69 million U.S. households have at least one dog, followed by 45.3 million U.S. households with a cat. People are spending more time with their pets than ever before. A good night’s sleep (and the occasional afternoon cat nap) is beneficial to a companion animal and its pet parent. Not only does it restore strength and energy, but it also boosts overall health.
Beds are now specifically designed for dogs or cats that like to stretch out, that like to nestle against a wall or that like to curl into a cozy cave-like space. Beds are even designed for specific ailments, such as orthopedic beds to help soothe a pet’s aching muscles and joints.
Today’s pet brands are seeing an increase in consumer demand for eco-friendly, quality pet beds as well as products that marry form with function while looking attractive with a consumer’s home décor. Personalized beds have become more common, while product designs that represent a sports team, hobby or interest that appeals to the pet parent are also growing in popularity. In addition to durability and an attractive design, the ease of cleaning is another important factor that consumers consider when seeking a bed for their dog or cat.
