Press release: Walkin’ Pets

Kristine M. Elsen, DVM Candidate in Class of 2022 at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, has been awarded the 2020 Walkin’ Pets Veterinary Scholarship. Walkin’ Pets, a pet mobility company servicing the needs of disabled, injured, and aging pets, awards the scholarship to help support the next generation of Veterinarians who will be on the front line of providing compassionate pet care.

Elsen grew up in Monroe, Wisconsin, where she fostered her passion for science and animal advocacy from a young age. Inspired by the Wisconsin Idea and its mission to improve the lives of others locally and globally, she attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she graduated with a bachelor’s in biology and global health certificate in 2017. She continues to reside in Madison, but now as a full-time student at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine.

Elsen’s clinical experiences include small animal general practice, shelter, physical therapy/ rehabilitation, and emergency medicine. It was her time at a small animal physical therapy and rehabilitation practice that she found great fulfillment in helping aging, injured, and disabled pets improve their quality of life through medical management and the assistance of Walkin’ Pets devices. She looks forward to applying this skill set to her future patients and improving the lives of people and their pets.
