It might not be at the top of the list for exciting accessories for an aquarium, terrarium or critter environment, but the bedding and substrate for aquatic livestock, herps and small animals is vital to the companion animal’s well-being. Available in various forms, reptile and amphibian substrates serve several purposes in its enclosure, as it maintains humidity, promotes healthy plant growth, facilitates waste removal and can also encourage burrowing and egg-laying instincts. Bedding is important in providing comfort to the pet while also encouraging its instinctive nesting and burrowing behaviors among rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, chinchillas and other critters.
