The Ark Pet Spa & Hotel recently announced that, after 12 years in business, it would be expanding to launch a franchise. The company is currently “seeking business-minded pet lovers in the Southeast to join the franchise crew… and take a bite out of the $70 billion pet industry,” according to a press release.

Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee The Ark Pet Spa & Hotel has hosted thousands of dogs, cats and other pets while their parents were away since their opening in 2006. The Ark offers pet boarding, doggy daycare, pet grooming, dog training, and even boasts a pet bakery and market called Slobberbones. The Ark has accumulated several awards over the years—most recently The Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of The Best “Pet Groomers” for the 6th year in a row. Other awards include Best of Kudzu Atlanta for “Pet Boarding and Daycare.” The Ark is currently rated A+ by the BBB, according to company statement.

The Ark now includes three Chattanooga locations as well as one in Doraville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, bringing the total number of locations to four.IMG_6232

“With a proven model, a strong brand, a growing industry, and a vision for expansion, The Ark took the steps to develop a competitive franchise package and will now be offering it to anyone interested in the southeast United States,” The company announced today. “The Ark’s franchise crew worked with National Franchise Associates (NFA) out of the Atlanta area to create their franchise documents and manuals.”

The Ark developed a franchise crew to help support all of the existing corporately owned franchise units and any future franchise locations. The Ark’s franchise crew includes Jay Floyd, the founder and CEO; Adam Harbin, the vice president of Development; Sarah Speer, the director of Operations; Kate Wells, the marketing manager; and Brittany Carden, the franchise operations trainer. The Ark’s crew will provide assistance with things like site selection, facility design, construction, crew and owner training, management, accounting, and marketing. Once the franchise owner is up and running, The Ark crew will provide ongoing assistance and system-wide support.

“According to the American Pet Products Association (APPA), the industry has seen an average annual growth of seven percent. This can be attributed to the fact that nearly 68 percent of American households now own a pet,” The Ark stated. “APPA estimates there to be over 60 million households that own a dog and 47 million households that own a cat in the U.S. Not to mention, most pet owners consider their pet to be part of the family and are willing to spend more than ever to keep them happy and healthy.”
