Press release: Salty Dawg

Salty Dawg Pet Salon, the premium dog grooming brand that challenges people to “Pet Differently,” is bringing on a new franchisee partner, Tyler Kanski, to own and operate the Houston, Texas, location and continue the brand’s expansion into the Texas market. Salty Dawg Pet Salon has innovated the approach to pet grooming with an organic solution: sourcing licensed hairstylists and barbers and providing them with an exclusive dog grooming training program to transition from styling humans to styling our furry companions. The brand is dedicated to providing the Houston communities furry friends the exceptional care and pampering they deserve.

“We are thrilled to be welcoming Tyler on to join the Salty Dawg team as we continue to grow in Texas,” said Salty Dawg co-founder and CEO John Kanski. “We strive for excellence in our brand when it comes to the individuals who join us in our mission of bringing premium service to the pups we serve as well as a brand that dog owners can trust and rely on to take stellar care of their dogs while getting groomed. We know that Tyler’s passion for creating a space where dogs feel safe and loved will translate to our loyal customers in the Houston area.”

Kanski, who is originally from Normal, Illinois, may be new to the Houston area, but he is no novice when it comes to the Salty Dawg brand and their partnership with the Paul Mitchell schools, having moved to Texas to work for the well-known cosmetology school brand. Kanski has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and having grown up around the salon industry, he knew how many parallels the grooming and salon industry had. When he was ready to branch off on his own entrepreneurial pursuits, he knew he wanted to blend his background in the salon industry with his passion for animals. When the opportunity to take over the Salty Dawg Houston location became available, he knew it was a brand that he wanted to be a part of and jumped at the opportunity. He decided to invest in the brand’s proven successful business model and outstanding leadership team and can’t wait to bring quality pet care to the Houston communities.

“Franchising presents an opportunity to be a business owner, but while having the guidance from an already established business and team,” said Kanski. “Salty Dawg provides me the support and road map to build a successful business. I grew up with two dogs, a boxer and a springer spaniel and having watched my mom run her salon throughout my childhood, the opportunity to bring together what I know of the industry with my love of animals was an easy choice. Finding a brand that is dedicated to not just providing dogs with a haircut, but with a premium experience that makes them feel safe and happy was my goal. I can’t wait to be taking over the Houston location and to hopefully bring Salty Dawg to the Austin market in the future.”

Kanski says he is looking to be fully up and operating the Katy location this August. He plans to partner with the Paul Mitchell schools to hire students who are interested in grooming as a career and have a passion for pets. With big plans for a re-grand opening in late August or beginning of September to help re-introduce the Salty Dawg brand to the Houston communities, he is thrilled to be a part of a brand that is dedicated to providing the best quality care for our furry friends.
