Press release: Ren’s Pets

Ren’s Pets will be opening a new retail store in The Junction neighborhood of Toronto, Ontario this fall. It will be the second urban concept smaller format store for Ren’s, following the opening of Liberty Village, Toronto in September of 2021. The Junction store will mark the 44th Ren’s Pets location for the Canadian specialty pet retailer, amidst strong expansion plans for Toronto.

“We’re really excited to open this second urban concept Ren’s store in The Junction in Toronto,” said Scott Arsenault, CEO at Ren’s Pets. “We’ve been expanding over the years throughout the GTA with an outside in strategy for growth, and now we’ve started opening stores in Toronto itself which was always our goal. We just love The Junction neighborhood, with the largest number of dog license in Toronto. We’re moving into a true community of passionate pet owners and we can’t wait.”

The Junction store will be located at 2995 Dundas Street West and will have a 4,000-square-foot footprint. It will feature Ren’s best selection of dog and cat products including aisles of high-quality dog and cat food, displays of treats and toys, plus a special grooming section. There will also be over 30 feet of large walk-in freezers for raw and frozen pet food, one of the largest selections in Toronto. The store will have kiosks for ordering additional products off the Ren’s website, an expanded click and collect pick up area, plus a larger area to facilitate same day delivery for customers powered by DoorDash. The overall look of the store will have a fresh boutique style look, using updated signage, barnboard and brick accents and new styles of fixtures.

“The Junction location continues our expansion of a network of stores in Toronto,” said Arsenault. “We’ve learned a lot from our first Toronto opening in Liberty Village last year, about the urban Ren’s city customer, products that have been popular in the store like raw food and store operational differences like parking, deliveries, staffing, hours of operation and more. We’re ready to take on more locations in Toronto and build out a strong set of Ren’s stores right across the city.”

“We know Toronto itself is an excellent fit for Ren’s, due to our premium selection of products including only the highest quality pet food,” said Larissa Wasyliw, vice president of ecommerce and marketing at Ren’s Pets. “Customers in The Junction neighborhood will be those that like to come in with their pets when they’re out for a walk, picking up a new toy or treat, and perhaps having their bigger bags of food delivered straight to home for them. We know they’ll enjoy doing things like weighing their pet in store on our scale, trying samples, asking for advice from the knowledgeable staff, having fittings for harnesses, collars or clothing and socializing with other passionate pet folks and their pups.”

“We can’t wait to show The Junction pet parents that Ren’s is here for your Pet’s Best Life with the best food, treats, and toys you can get, with so many easy and convenient in store plus online shopping options available,” said Wasyliw. “Besides our Liberty Village store, it’s the only other pet store in Toronto where you can buy super premium pet food brand Vetdiet. The store will be a true destination in the neighborhood, with a stylish new Ren’s look, curated best selection of pet products and expanded ecommerce capabilities.”

Ren’s Pets has six stores scheduled to open in 2022, including Orillia, Thunder Bay, Stouffville, Newmarket, Niagara Falls and The Junction, with a potential seventh store opening in the Maritimes this fall as well.
