Press release: Raised Right
Freedom Pet Supplies is now distributing Raised Right’s products throughout the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland. Raised Right is a family owned human-grade pet food company that makes “home cooked style” whole food recipes for dogs and cats that are stored frozen and served fresh. Freedom will also be carrying Raised Right’s Meat Bites, which is a line of single ingredient liver treats that are shelf stable, preservative free, and traceable to their source.
Raised Right works with veterinarian, Dr. Karen Becker and pet food formulation expert Steve Brown to create limited ingredient recipes that are low in carbs. They were able to formulate their adult dog recipes to meet AAFCO’s requirements for a complete and balanced diet using only whole foods with no added vitamins and minerals. Many of their recipes contain less than 10 ingredients and most of their recipes have less than two percent carbs because they don’t use any high carb fillers like potato, rice, yam, squash, oats, parsnips or barley.
“We take safety very seriously. Every single batch we cook gets lab safety tested for E. coli, listeria and salmonella. We have a hold release program where we don’t ever ship our food unless it passes the lab safety test and for transparency we post the results of these tests on our website for everyone to see, along with a map tracing all our ingredients to their source, and a video showing how our food gets made,” said Braeden Ruud Raised Right’s co-founder and CEO.
The Ruud’s family’s roots in farming and ranching in Alberta dates back for four generations. Braeden’s Mother, Mary Ann, started home cooking for their family’s pets in 2007 after the massive outbreak of pet food contamination that resulted in the death of thousands of pets. This inspired the Ruud family to create a company that pet parents can trust through placing a strong emphasis on safety and transparency.
“We are thrilled to represent Raised Right in this rapidly growing category of home cooked style meals,” said John Ayres, president of Freedom Pet Supplies Inc.
