Vets Pets, a North Carolina–based cooperative network of veterinary hospitals, recently announced plans to open Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital of Wilmington in early fall 2026. Located at 6737 Market Street in the former Badcock Furniture building, the facility will provide 24/7 emergency services and specialty surgery, extending the reach of the Points East Veterinary Group to the Cape Fear region.
The Wilmington hospital joins three existing Points East locations: Wilson, Fayetteville and Greenville. Together, these hospitals form a regional network built to ensure pets and referring veterinarians have access to consistent, high-quality emergency and specialty care.
“Veterinary medicine is strongest when it’s rooted in the community it serves,” said Paige Harrington, DVM, vice president of medical leadership at Vets Pets. “Our role is to complement the important work of local veterinarians and ensure families have support when the unexpected happens.”
The hospital will be co-led by Melissa Stoll, DVM, DACVS, and Paige Harrington, DVM. Dr. Stoll, a board-certified veterinary surgeon, has lived and practiced in Wilmington since 2007 and brings extensive experience in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.
“This community has been my professional home for nearly two decades,” said Dr. Stoll. “I have seen firsthand the need for expanded emergency and surgical services in Wilmington. Partnering with Vets Pets to open this hospital allows us to meet that need while supporting the area’s veterinarians and their teams.”
The new facility will feature advanced imaging, a fully equipped surgical suite, and dedicated treatment areas for emergency and critical care. Its design reflects the group’s focus on seamless collaboration with referring practices and a commitment to family- focused care.
“As with all Points East hospitals, Wilmington will operate under a shared identity and standard of care,” added Dr. Harrington. “Whether in Wilson, Fayetteville, Greenville, or now Wilmington, our communities can count on the same reliable, collaborative, and high- quality experience.”
