Press release: Pet Supermarket

Pet Supermarket, a premium pet supply retailer with over 200 locations throughout the Southeast U.S., is expanding into the Charleston market with the opening of its new store in Summerville, South Carolina. A public grand opening celebration for the store, located at 620 Bacons Bridge Road, Summerville in the Sawmill Village Shopping Center, will take place form 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. October 23 and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. October 24.

The Summerville store is the first location for the pet retailer in the tri-county area and its sixth location in South Carolina.

“We are thrilled to bring our experience and expertise to the Charleston market and welcome the community to enjoy our wide selection of premium products and our best-in-class customer service that puts pets and their people first,” said CEO Allen McClard. “At the same time, we’re looking forward to joining this growing community and being good corporate citizens and neighbors.”

Founded in 1973, Pet Supermarket offers more than 8,000 pet care products including food, toys, medicine and clothing. What sets Pet Supermarket apart is its best-in-class customer service and wide variety of live animals including reptiles, birds, fish and other small animals. Pet Supermarket also offers premium brands like Merrick, Blue Buffalo, Hill’s Science Diet and many other national favorites as well as high-quality house brands, like Performatrin, which are beloved by pets for its great taste and by human parents for their nutritional benefits.

As Pet Supermarket’s first store launch of 2021, the Summerville grand opening event will feature raffles and giveaways throughout the weekend including prizes from Pet Supermarket’s favorite brands. In addition, pet parents will receive 30 percent off in-store purchases and can enjoy an on-site pet photographer as well as a free shaved ice from Kona Ice with every purchase. Throughout the opening event and the rest of October, Pet Supermarket will be offering free self-serve dog washes at the Summerville location.

Those looking to raise their own pet family will also have the opportunity during the grand opening event to adopt a rescue cat in partnership with Dorchester Paws. Pet experts are eager to help these animals find their furever home and will point out the proper care essentials for each one up for adoption.

“We want to show the tri-county area how excited we are to become part of the community,” added McClard. “And after the past year and a half, it’s great to get out and have something to celebrate.”
