Press release: Naturally Fresh

It’s kitten season and Naturally Fresh Cat Litter is partnering again with animal shelters in Seattle and Portland, as well as expanding out to shelters in Phoenix and Denver/Boulder to promote cat adoptions, make the cat adoption process a little better for prospective cat parents and match thousands of dollars’ worth of adoption fees for partner shelters. The “Gotcha Day” initiative – named after the memorable day a shelter pet is adopted – is encouraging cat adoptions by offering free New Cat Parent Adoption Kits through July. This initiative aligns with the height of kitten season, American Humane’s Adopt-a-Cat Month and ASPCA’s Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month in June.

“We’re excited to continue our Gotcha Day program to help encourage cat adoptions across the country. This year, we’ve partnered with seven shelters in four eco-conscious markets and are excited to introduce a new element of the program: a national sweepstakes for all cat parents to have a chance to win free vet care for a year,” said Helen Cantrell, director of marketing and sales. “We know shelters everywhere need support, so we’re proud to offer shelters and adopters a sustainable litter that’s great for pet parents, their cat kids and the planet.”

National Sweepstakes

This year, Naturally Fresh is hosting a sweepstakes for any and all cat parents, all across the country. Starting June 1, cat parents will be able to submit their own “Gotcha Day” story about the day they took home their new cat kid on the website and be entered to win the grand prize of free vet care for a year, a surprise health package and 1,000 pounds of Naturally Fresh litter donated to the shelter or rescue of their choice.

Along with one grand prize winner, there will be 1st and 2nd runner-up winners, as well. 1st runner-up winners will receive a one-year subscription to KitNipBox, one bag of Naturally Fresh every month for six months and one Naturally Fresh shirt. Second runner-up winners will receive one coupon for a free bag of Naturally Fresh. The sweepstakes ends July 31, and the winners will be randomly selected following the end of the campaign.

New Cat Parent Adoption Kits

Now through July, all new cat adoptions at participating shelters will receive a free New Cat Parent Adoption Kit, which includes a bag of Naturally Fresh litter, an adoption checklist, pet parent tips, eco-friendly cat care ideas, a coupon and more.

Participating Animal Shelters and Donations

Naturally Fresh is working with seven shelters: Seattle Humane Society, Seattle Area Feline Rescue, Oregon Humane Society, The Pixie Project, Boulder Humane Society, Fearless Kitty Rescue and Home Fur Good. Naturally Fresh will match over $20,000 in adoption fees for cats that are adopted in June and July, as well as donate litter for usage at the shelters and in foster homes.

In addition to the “Gotcha Day” program, Naturally Fresh supports local shelters nationwide year-over-year. Over the past two years, Naturally Fresh has donated over 370,000 pounds of litter to U.S. shelters and rescues, as well as sponsored and supported shelter events.

Based in Corning, California, ECO-SHELL, maker of the Naturally Fresh family of products, produces all-natural, environmentally-friendly cat litter made with a proprietary blend of the fibrous materials found only inside walnut shells. Founded in 2010, Naturally Fresh products use a blend derived from walnut shells grown in California by Crain Walnut Shelling, Inc., a family-owned producer, packer and processor of quality English Walnuts for over a half-century. The Naturally Fresh formula has proven superior odor control, absorbs three times better than clay, is low tracking and free of silica dust. The litters are also sustainable, biodegradable and free of perfumes.
