Press release: Mella Pet Care

Mella Pet Care, a leading provider of innovative pet health devices, will be featured on Season 15 of the hit ABC show “Shark Tank.” In the show that will be aired at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, March 1, the Chicago-based startup will pitch Shark Tank investors Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner, Daymond John and Daniel Lubetzky on an ecosystem of health monitoring solutions for veterinarians and pet owners.

The company developed the Mella Home, the world’s first accurate, pain-free underarm thermometer, to prioritize pets’ health and comfort. Mella CEO/co-founder Anya Babbitt, COO/co-founder Ben Seidman and chief of staff Daniella Morgan-Pascualvaca will appear on the episode.

“We’re thrilled to introduce the ‘Shark Tank’ investors and a national TV audience to our vision for pet care,” said Babbitt. “With the Sharks’ support, we can expand our product offerings, reach more customers and continue to transform how we all care for our pets.”

Babbitt founded the company in 2019 after her rescue dog, Mella, nearly died as a puppy due to a lack of data to diagnose and prevent her health condition. With the noninvasive axillary thermometer and coming products like a body fat analyzer, chip reader and pulse oximeter, Mella Pet Care enables pet parents to monitor their pets’ vitals and integrate with veterinary care.

Mella has won 14 industry awards including the 2021 Purina Pet Care Innovation Prize and Mars’ 2022 Leap Venture Studio accelerator.

Babbitt says the March 1 episode will show the team making their case for transforming pet care technology to empower pet parents, improve veterinary care and help pets live longer, happier lives.

“These are world-class investors with an eye for disruptive technologies,” said Seidman. “‘Shark Tank’ is a golden opportunity for us to reach an even wider audience and grow our community of pet lovers.”

By partnering with the Sharks, Mella hopes to accelerate product development, expand distribution channels and invest in marketing efforts to raise brand awareness globally.
