Hounds Town USA, the 21-plus-unit doggie daycare franchise, has increasingly been solidifying its position as a top dog in the pet care industry this year as more and more savvy entrepreneurs recognize the brand’s well-positioned business model. The brand has signed 21 deals this year, with another nine pending, and will open eight stores by the close of 2021 with another 35 to 40 opening next year. Most notably, Hounds Town USA is officially celebrating the coveted signing of its 100th territory thanks to franchisees Holly and Jim Garland in East Dallas, Texas.
All across the country, the pet boarding industry has experienced a significant rise in customer attendance in 2021. Hounds Town USA in particular has seen more than a 20 percent increase in system wide occupancy rates for fully-matured stores over 2019. Stores in growth mode are seeing occupancy rates double and triple from 2020 and increase significantly even over 2019 numbers. Additionally, the brand’s system-wide revenue is set to surpass $10 million, up from $4 million in 2020 and $4.4 million in 2019. As a result, six Hounds Town USA single-unit franchisees are opening a second store, and three of the brand’s multi-unit franchisees are moving on to a second store within a year of opening its first store.
Both Holly and Jim bring decades of experience in the corporate finance world to their entrepreneurial ventures. They came upon Hounds Town USA during their research and immediately fell in love with the concept, the leadership team and the brand’s culture.
“We knew from experience and talking to friends that there was a big need for quality doggie day care in our community,” said Holly Garland. “Especially now, with everyone getting back to normal and starting to travel again, we saw people needing to book pet care and struggling to lock down appointments. We knew the demand would continue to grow and we wanted to be the ones to provide that service.”
The Garlands were also excited to join a steadily growing franchise brand that is on the cusp of major expansion. As the 100th territory signed, Jim Garland says they were proud to help the Hounds Town USA brand reach such an important milestone.
