Guardian Pet Food Company, Inc. recently announced that Michelle Akers, one of the greatest soccer players of all time, has signed on as the official spokesperson for NOBL Foods, Guardian’s line of dog foods and treats. Over her 15-year career with the U.S. National Team, Akers has won two FIFA World Cups (1991 and 1999), Gold Medals at the Atlanta Olympics (1996) and the Goodwill Games (1998). FIFA awarded her with its Order of Merit (FIFA’s highest honor for contributions to the global game) in 1998. In 2002, she was named the FIFA Female Player of the Century.

After retiring from soccer, Akers went on to found the Michelle Akers Horse & Animal Rescue, a 501(c)3 dedicated to the health and well-being of animals. She lives in Florida with her three dogs (Jojo, Maddy and Willy Bobby), two cats (Baby Kitty and Gracie) and four horses (Thunder, Cheyenne, Candy Cane and Cami).

Akers will spearhead Guardian’s brand awareness and consumer outreach campaigns through a variety of events, including appearances at The Soccer Tournament in Cary, North Carolina, and at various locations to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the 1999 World Cup victory.

“My dogs are part of the family; we share the couch, birthdays, and whatever life brings us. I want them to be happy, healthy, and with me for as long as possible,” Akers said. “That’s why NOBL is a no brainer for us. They’ve done the work. My dogs look forward to a great tasting meal that is made with whole foods and easy to feed, at home and on the go.”

“I love it and my dogs love it,” she added. “I am really excited and happy to partner with NOBL and share the love for the doggos who are part of your family.”

Her primary focus will be on communicating “pet-first” health and nutrition. Akers notes that, as an elite athlete, “pet parent” and animal activist, she knows what it takes to not only thrive, but to rise above the competition and be at your best “everyday” and “on the go.”   Akers and NOBL are on a mission to help dogs live longer, better and more active lives.

“We are thrilled and honored to have Michelle Akers join us as the Official Spokesperson for NOBL Foods,” said Jim Galovski, Guardian’s founder and CEO. “Her desire to make a difference in the lives of dogs, her passion to inspire people to live active, healthy lifestyles with their pets and her commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with Guardian’s ethos.”
