Greater Good Charities, a global nonprofit that works to help people, pet and the planet, recently announced new board leadership during its annual fiscal year meeting. Jam Stewart was named board chair, Dr. Julie Ryan-Johnson was named board vice chair, John Gehrt was named board treasurer and Julia Christophersen was named board secretary.

“We are extremely grateful for our board members that always provide support and guidance so we can move our mission forward to help people, pets and the planet,” said Liz Baker, CEO for Greater Good Charities. “Each of our board officers brings a great amount of wisdom, passion and a vast amount of experience to the table.”

The following provides background on the board leadership at Greater Good Charities.

 

 

 

Board Chair – Jam Stewart

Jam Stewart has been in corporate communications and marketing for more than 20 years and currently is the North American vice president, corporate affairs for Mars Petcare. In Stewart’s current role at Mars Petcare, she provides strategic leadership to protect, promote and defend the company’s reputation — internally and externally. Stewart also leads community engagement, consumer service experience, brand public relations, stakeholder strategies and corporate digital platforms to drive positive change for pets and people.

 

 

 

 

 

Board Vice Chair – Dr. Julie Ryan-Johnson

Dr. Julie Ryan-Johnson, currently with Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, has been a shelter veterinarian for more than 25 years and was the director of a large government shelter. Ryan-Johnson has served as president of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association, and as the CE co-chair for the California VMA and is a founding member of Southern California’s Large Animal Response Team. Ryan-Johnson is also a member of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators.

 

 

 

 

 

Board Treasurer – John Gehrt

John Gehrt has held senior executive management positions with retail, direct marketing, manufacturing, transportation, distribution internet and NFP organizations and is currently the managing director for Quick Start Shared Services, LLC. Gehrt has over 40 years of experience working at the executive and board level with companies ranging in size from startup to Fortune 500. Gehrt has taught strategic planning, finance and statistics in adult education advanced degree programs.

 

 

 

 

Board Secretary – Julia Christophersen

Julia Christophersen is the chief merchandising officer for GreaterGood.com, where she leads a very talented buying team who develop and bring to market custom products from around the world. Christophersen has been with GreaterGood.com for over 20 years. Prior to joining Greater Good, Christophersen spent 5 years at one of the leading computer reseller companies in the country doing print marketing for key graphic accounts.
