Donation, Distribution News From Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food

Press release: Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food

Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food, a family-owned supplier of super premium pet food, recently donated 11,455 pounds of their nutritious pet food to help feed animals in need in Jacksonville, Florida. The donation is part of the pet food company’s Fill A Bowl… Feed A Soul (FABFAS) program, a national campaign targeting the donation of one million meals for shelter pets annually.

Over five tons of premium dog and cat food was donated to two Jacksonville, Florida-based organizations. The first organization to receive a donation was First Coast No More Homeless Pets, an organization that helps people and their pets with affordable veterinary care, low-cost or no-cost spay/neuter programs, and a pet foodbank. The second organization was Pet Rescue North, a no-kill animal shelter that cares for animals that others consider unadoptable, like seniors or handicapped animals.

“We are so grateful to Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food for their large donation of dog and cat food to help us continue to provide for the pets and families within our community,” said David Arias, Chief Development Officer for First Coast No More Homeless Pets. “When families don’t have to make the hard decision of pet food over their own needs, then they can focus on what really matters: being together.”

“Due to this generous donation of premium pet food from Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food, we can do more vetting on our dogs and cats using the money we would have spent on food,” said Peggy Haynes, Director of Pet Rescue North.

In addition, Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food recently announced its agreement with Burgham Sales Ltd., a full-line distributor of pet supplies to independent pet retailers and pet chains in Canada, to expand distribution to Canadian pet specialty stores beginning September 1.

“We have been looking to expand distribution in Canada and feel that Burgham is a perfect match,” says Ed Uebele, SR VP Sales and Marketing for Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food. “As a family-owned business they share the same customer intimacy and care that Chicken Soup for the Soul has been demonstrating for the last 16 years. Quality and value combined with a positive retailer relationship.”

“Our super premium, affordable pet food is already widely appreciated throughout North America for its healthy ingredient decks as well its affordable price point,” said Jim Simplot, VP Sales and National Accounts for Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food. “We look forward to working with Burgham’s passionate and resourceful sales team to expand our Canadian presence.”

“We are very excited to be working with Chicken Soup for the Soul,” said  Steven Schlichtmann, Vice President of Marketing and Operations for Burgham Sales Ltd. “Their brand recognition is off the charts and we look forward to supporting the existing network of dealers while growing the brand to a new level, by offering the entire line to the Canadian market.”

Burgham will represent Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food exclusively in the Quebec and Ontario markets as well as help to expand presence in the Atlantic Provinces.
