Press release: Scenthound

Scenthound, the nation’s first wellness-focused, membership-based dog grooming franchise, recently announced it has added Josh Lyon to its leadership team to continue the brand’s national expansion within the $100 billion dollar pet industry. Lyon will lead a team tasked with opening over 30 Scenthound Scenters this year, along with helping expand the franchise to 250 units by 2023.

Lyon, a certified franchise executive brings over 20 years of franchising experience both as a franchise owner/operator and operations executive. Prior to joining Scenthound, Lyon served as senior vice president of administration for TITLE Boxing Club and held several operations roles at Hertz. Passionate about franchising and entrepreneurship, he was a past franchisee with Fitness Together and also co-founded Hot Yoga Experience, operating several locations in the Seattle market.

“I am honored to join the Scenthound pack of talented and passionate members that are committed to becoming a global leader in the pet care industry,” stated Lyon. “Scenthound created a unique solution for dog wellness and the growth they are experiencing is astonishing. I am looking forward to being a part of this success as they continue to grow.”

Scenthound takes a wellness-based approach that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs. Embedded in the name, Scenthound focuses on the five core areas of maintenance: Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails and Teeth. Their employees are fully trained to give each dog the care required to stay clean and healthy, and the membership program brings dog parents peace of mind that their dog is getting the necessary care on a routine basis. Pet parents can select an affordable membership plan most appropriate for their dog and purchase additional services as needed.

Scenthound was founded in 2015 after CEO Tim Vogel spent more than 10 years running both a mobile grooming business and local grooming Scenters, witnessing firsthand the shortcomings within a booming pet industry and the lack of education surrounding dog care. Vogel began a mission to give dogs and their owners a fast, easy, and affordable solution that not only keeps them clean and looking great but maintains their overall health and wellness.

“We are thrilled to welcome Josh to our leadership team and know that his experience  as both an operations leader and franchise owner/operator will benefit our system greatly as we expand our national footprint,” said Vogel. “Josh will help accelerate our openings to support our current and anticipated growth. We continue to invest in the right team members for our brand and view our team as a critical component of our on-going success.”

Scenthound retained Global Talent Solutions (GTS) for Lyon’s hiring, working directly with its CEO Michael Ruiz. GTS is the premier executive search, recruitment and talent acquisition partner to the franchise industry. GTS provides a more efficient way to identify and connect top industry talent with career opportunities within its clients’ organizations. Vogel learned of Ruiz and GTS from its case-study examples of successful, high-level placements across franchising.

Founded in 2015 and franchising since 2019, Scenthound is a wellness-centered, membership-based dog grooming franchise. Scenthound currently has 88 locations open or under development across 10 states.
