Press release: Champion Petfoods

The Toronto 6ix, one of six teams in the Premier Hockey Federation (previously the National Women’s Hockey League), is proud to announce Champion Petfoods, which makes ORIJEN pet food products, has signed on as the second Trailblazing Six sponsor of the hockey franchise.

The two-year sponsorship between the Alberta-based company and the 6ix will capitalize on the investment in women’s sports from Champion Petfoods through direct financial assistance, marketing support, and allyship, with the goal to establish a viable and profitable sports entertainment product that drives change for women and offers an elevated experience on the ice, in the locker room, and throughout our communities.

“We’re excited to collaborate with yet another values-driven business and grow the Trailblazing Six platform,” said Toronto 6ix president, Digit Murphy. “With a two-year sponsorship, Champion Petfoods has shown great commitment to the 6ix, and will collaborate with us as we make history by helping create more opportunities for the next generation of athletes on and off the ice, as well as championing our amazing players.”

Champion Petfoods will be the presenting sponsor of the team’s Pet Roster, and the official pet food provider for all the Toronto 6ix players who have pets. Champion Petfoods will also provide 500 free Toronto Six tickets and ORIJEN pet food samples to all fans who attend the Toronto Six’s “Pet Appreciation Game” on Sunday, March 13.

“The Toronto 6ix team’s loyal fanbase is one that loves living and supporting a healthy, athletic and active lifestyle, just like pet lovers who feed their cats and dogs ORIJEN pet food, so this sponsorship made perfect sense,” said James Burns, director of marketing at Champion Petfoods.

“We understand the importance of high-quality nutrition and how it can play a role in driving optimal performance, and that’s why we couldn’t be more excited to support this professional women’s team full of incredible and empowering athletes,” said Burns.

Launched last month, the Trailblazing Six platform was developed in collaboration with GOALS Sports and works towards joining forces with values-driven businesses that strive to elevate professional women’s hockey and inspire the next generation of heroes, leaders and role models both on the ice and beyond.
