Press release: Catalyst Pet

Catalyst Pet, the highest performing sustainable litter engineered from upcycled softwood, is donating more than 1,200 bags of litter to its rescue partners across the country, which equates to approximately six tons. The donation is the result from the brand’s Buy a Bag Give a Bag program, in which Catalyst Pet pledged to customers they would donate a second bag to one of their rescue partners for every bag of litter purchased on the Catalyst Pet website or on Amazon over a two-week period this past December.

“We received an overwhelming amount of support from our partners and our customers for this holiday initiative to support these wonderful nonprofits,” said Jonah Levine, Catalyst Pet’s product manager. “We’re thrilled to be able to offer this extra boost of support at a time when many are seeing an increase in the number of cats and kittens coming into their shelters and rescues.”

Catalyst Pet believes sustainability is about more than the environment but also about health and justice in communities. That’s why Catalyst Pet launched a shelter and rescue program in June 2020 to support organizations and people across the country that rescue, shelter, and trap-neuter-return kittens and cats.

“We are so grateful for Catalyst Pet’s support and litter donations throughout the year and during extra initiatives like the Buy a Bag, Give a Bag program in December,” said Tiffany Palazzini of Stray Cat Alliance. “Our adoptable kitties are loving it.”

From donating litter monthly, raising awareness about the rescues’ efforts through marketing initiatives, to providing discount coupons to new cat parents and foster parents, Catalyst Pet works with numerous nonprofits across the country to support them in the ways they need. To date, Catalyst Pet has donated more than 80,000 pounds of litter.

“We believe sustainability is about creating change for good,” said Levine. “It’s about supporting our community and lending a hand wherever we can. That’s why we started this program and are working hard to continue to grow it.”

The nonprofits Catalyst works with vary in size and location, but each have a strong mission toward keeping cats safe and healthy. Organizations include Austin Pets Alive!, Stray Cat Alliance, Milo’s Sanctuary, Animal Friends Alliance, Chalky’s Cat Crusade, Conquer the Colony, Greater Derry Humane Society, Only Kindness Rescue, Second Chance Kitty, Three Little Pitties, and Paw Partners Unleashed to name a few.
