Cat Dancer Products Celebrates 40 Years of Making Interactive Cat Toys

Cat Dancer Products, Inc. has recently announced the celebration of 40 years in business. The company specializes in the manufacture of proprietary cat toys and accessories.

Formed in 1983 by company president Jim Boelke, Cat Dancer Products provides toys for Amazon, Petco, Chewy and dozens of distributors across the U.S. and Canada as well as distributors in the EU and China. The company also prints its packaging in Japanese for sale in that market.

According to Boelke, Cat Dancer Products was innovative from the beginning, producing an interactive cat toy before anyone else in the market.

“When I started Cat Dancer, there were no toys like Cat Dancer on the market,” he said. “Playing with cats was a hit or miss kind of thing.  Maybe they were in the mood to chase that ball or mouse you threw, or maybe they weren’t.  I started to call Cat Dancer ’interactive’ when I described it. When I first used Cat Dancers on cats, I was amazed at their instant interest in playing; now 40 years later, the number of cats I have encountered that won’t play is miniscule. It’s usually due to age or health issues.”

Today, 49 percent of all cat toys are labeled “interactive,” according to the American Pet Products Association (APPA) National Pet Owners Survey.

Cat Dancer toys get cats up and moving unlike any other toy, says Boelke. He adds that it is impossible for anyone to watch all the social media videos of cats playing with Cat Dancer toys as more than an hour of video is posted each hour.

“We are excited about the future of Cat Dancer Products in this new ‘stay-at-home’ America,” Boelke said. “In the past 40 years, our pets have become a larger part of our families and as such we care about them almost as much as we care about the human members. People are spending a lot more quality time with their cats because of what we started.”
