Carnivore Meat Company, maker of leading raw pet food brands Vital Essentials and Vital Cat, broke ground in December 2017 to expand its production facilities located in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

“Growth in 2017 exceeded our expectations,” said Lanny Viegut, CEO and founder of Carnivore Meat Company. “In order to meet this year’s demand, we have committed $6 million in capital improvements that include a 5,350-sqaure-foot expansion of our manufacturing facilities and installation of new equipment.”

The current buildout is expected to be completed in March 2018.

One of the most significant improvements includes the addition of new custom-built freeze-drying units that will be housed in the plant expansion.

“Our ability to meet global demand for freeze-dried pet foods will be greatly improved with the addition of this equipment,” said Kevin Malnor, VP of sales and marketing. “The fastest growing sector in the pet food category is freeze-dried entrees and treats with global sales projected to grow 32 percent in 2018 and continuing year-over-year growth well into the future.”

Ultimately, Vital Essentials will double the company’s freeze-drying capacity in 2018.

“We see tremendous opportunity for us as we head into a new era for the company,” Viegut said.

Known for being an innovative company in the raw pet food category, Carnivore Meat Company plans to continue expansion of its product lines for cats and dogs as well as developing unique merchandise displays that will help independent pet retailers bring healthier, more nutritious, functional foods to pet parents globally.
