4-Legger announced that its all-natural lavender dog shampoo, CALM, the world’s first aloe-based USDA Certified Organic Dog Shampoo, has won the 2018 EcoExcellence Award for Best Grooming Product.
The organic lavender dog shampoo is one of five in 4-Legger’s newest line of aloe-based USDA Certified Organic dog shampoos. All five shampoos have achieved the highest standard an all-natural product can achieve: the USDA Seal from the National Organic Program. They use a simple base of organic aloe juice, organic saponified oils (coconut, shea butter, olive, sunflower and jojoba), organic vegetable glycerin and organic rosemary extract.
Added to the base, “CALM” features organic lavender essential oil, organic calendula and organic St John’s wort to calm, balance, moisturize and soothe dry itchy skin while encouraging skin healing and reducing inflammation.
Melissa Boland, 4-Legger Founder was recently interviewed by Kathy Ireland on “Modern Living,” sharing her story that started in August of 2013.
“Environmental toxins were blamed when my toy poodle was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 8. He passed away three years later, on the same day that I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a wakeup call like no other. During my own cancer journey, I discovered there were no regulations in the pet grooming industry regarding ingredients or marketing claims,” Boland said. “It became my mission to make the industry more responsible and transparent for the sake of our beloved pets.”
The 2018 EcoExcellence Award from Natural Child World (NCW) Magazine selection process started with a review jury composed of media editors, influencers, celebrity judges, NCW’s Parents Lab and experts chosen for their industry expertise. The judges narrowed down entries to five finalists per category. Public voting determined the winners. 4-Legger says its selection validates pet parents want transparency and truly all natural products for the health of their pets.
4-Legger chose to develop products that would be subject to the National Organic Program. The ingredients and marketing claims must follow national standards for transparency and purity of ingredients. Further, the ingredients must have a paperwork trail to verify their source. By selecting all natural ingredients with specific health benefits for pets and in compliance with The National Organic Program, 4-Legger strives to be a leader in the industry.
