I f you’ve recently viewed the photo galleries on the Pet Age website, you’ll know that one of the countless memorable events for me at SuperZoo in July was the Pet Age 2017 Distributor of the Year award dinner, which honored General Pet Supply. Our photos reveal many of the pet industry’s key opinion leaders who were in attendance, including Jim Heim of Central Garden and Pet, Mark Hirschberg of Multipet International, Inc. and Larry Cobb of Th e Company of Animals.

Cobb, whose background includes time at GAMMA2, K&H Manufacturing and Vo-Toys, Inc., is a proverbial straight shooter. Speaking with him had such an impact on me that I made it a priority to include him in the September issue of Pet Age as the subject of our Five Questions profile, which sheds light on his career in the industry as well as his passions outside of “the business.” Be sure to catch Cobb’s Five Questions profile on the Pet Age website, as we’re including a special bonus: a link to a collection of his wildlife photos from his recent travels!

It should come as no surprise that Cobb was a winner of a 2016 ICON award. Also featured in the September issue is the newest class of ICON award winners. This year’s recipients come from all areas of the pet industry, ranging from a dog trainer (Sylvia Wilson, director and co-founder of Bark Buster Dog Training) to a social entrepreneur (Aaron Lamstein, co-founder and board member of Worldwise and Pawscout).

Also in this issue, as a companion piece to Groom Expo taking place this month in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Pet Age’s Colleen M. Murphy examines the pet grooming industry with manufacturers, salon owners and groomers giving their insight into the latest go-to grooming products.

In addition to that, we deliver our first installment of Roundups for several pet categories, get some valuable tips from professional model Ashley Harris-Carestia on her successful pet boutique, Bark Fifth Avenue, and off er a Stockroom section containing more than 80 exciting new products, and that just scratches the surface of what Pet Age has to off er you this month. Well, what are you waiting for? Turn the page and enjoy!
