Pet Supermarket Organizes Emergency Relief to NC Animal Shelters Impacted by Hurricanes

In response to the devastation caused by hurricanes Milton and Helene, Pet Supermarket is providing critical support to affected communities in . The company is working to deliver essential pet supplies, assist impacted employees and support local shelters as part of its ongoing disaster relief efforts.

Pet Supermarket has organized the delivery of over $20,000 worth of and carriers to shelters in Asheville, North Carolina and surrounding areas. In coordination with Averitt, a logistics partner, pallets of food and pet carriers are expected to arrive in the Asheville area early next week, providing vital relief to animal shelters in need.

In addition to these efforts, Pet Supermarket has also received an additional donation of $15,000 worth of pet food from Wellness, which is being delivered alongside the initial shipment to North Carolina. This collaborative effort ensures that both animals and shelters receive continued support in the face of the disaster.

Understanding the strain that the storm’s aftermath has placed on its employees, Pet Supermarket has activated an Employee Hardship Relief Process. This initiative is designed to provide financial assistance and other resources to both full-time and part-time employees affected by the hurricanes. The company’s Human Resources department, in partnership with a third-party support organization, will be working one-on-one with impacted team members to offer personalized assistance.

“We are deeply committed to supporting both the animals affected by the recent hurricanes and our dedicated employees during this challenging time,” said Rich Tannenbaum, CEO of Pet Supermarket. “By providing critical supplies to local shelters, we are able to ensure that pets receive the care they need. At the same time, we are implementing a pay continuation plan for employees whose stores are closed, offering them financial relief and a safety net as they navigate this difficult period.”

While the long-term recovery process remains uncertain, Pet Supermarket is fully committed to supporting the community through both immediate relief efforts and future initiatives. The company continues to evaluate ways to best assist impacted areas and will provide ongoing updates as new information becomes available.
