A new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest donation of pet food in a 24-hour period was set at the Bloem Show by Montego Pet Nutrition and Petshop Science, a retail chain in South Africa.
Driven by strong public support at the popular agricultural and entertainment event in Bloemfontein, Montego Pet Nutrition and Petshop Science collected 67,200 kg of pet food – surpassing the previous record of 36,750 kg set in the United States in 2023.
The record attempt ran from 5 p.m. May 1 to 5 p.m. May 2 with GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS officials verifying each donation, and independently witnessing the process before confirming the final total.

“This record gave us an opportunity to shine a light on the extraordinary dedication of the people who run our animal rescues. We are proud of what this partnership with Petshop Science achieved and equally committed to the long work that continues beyond it,” said Johan van Jaarsveld, Managing Director at Montego Pet Nutrition.
“It shows what is possible when people rally behind a cause,” said Trevor Paxton, General Manager for Petshop Science. “A record is one thing, but what matters is where this food is going — and the difference it will make.”
Montego Pet Nutrition, a family business established in 2000 in the Karoo region of South Africa, is an important player in the global pet industry. Pet owners in more than 35 countries across multiple continents trust Montego Pet Nutrition to produce world-class products with the health and wellbeing of pets in mind.
