CityVet, a community of locally owned veterinary practices, will open CityVet Waxahachie on March 16. Located at 1995 N. Hwy 77, Suite 120, Waxahachie, Texas, the clinic will be owned and led by local veterinarian James Blake Watson, who is bringing a highly personal, relationship-driven approach to pet care in a community he and his family already call home.

“I’ve always believed that good medicine comes from really understanding the situation in front of you,” said Dr. Watson. “Not every family is in the same place, and not every pet needs the same approach. My job is to listen first, then figure out what makes the most sense for that pet and that owner.”
Dr. Watson brings nearly 13 years of experience to CityVet Waxahachie, with a background that spans mixed animal practice, emergency medicine, small animal care, telehealth leadership, and previous practice ownership. A Texas A&M University graduate, he has built his career around adaptability, problem-solving, and meeting clients where they are. His return to ownership reflects a desire to practice veterinary medicine intentionally at this stage of life, with CityVet providing back-office support that allows him to focus on caring for patients, running the day-to-day practice, and spending more time with his family.
Dr. Watson also brings a specialized background in sporting dog medicine, shaped by years of hands-on experience hunting and competing with his own dogs.
“Between my time in mixed animal practice and working with my own dogs in the field, I’ve learned how to think through problems when you don’t always have a perfect ‘textbook situation’,” Dr. Watson said. “That perspective helps me approach each case practically and make decisions that actually fit with what the pet does and what the owner needs.”
Dr. Watson and his family are already woven into the fabric of Waxahachie life, attending church just blocks from the new clinic and regularly participating in local events. As CityVet Waxahachie opens its doors, Dr. Watson plans to be visible and involved, from attending festivals and parades to working alongside city leaders on potential community initiatives like spay and neuter programs.
“My relationships with clients often go beyond the walls of the clinic,” he said. “That’s how trust is built, by being present, available, and invested in the people you serve.”
“Each CityVet clinic reflects the veterinarian who leads it,” said David Boguslawski, President and CEO of CityVet. “Dr. Watson’s skillset, attitude, and his commitment to Waxahachie and the relationships he’s building there are exactly what our model is designed to support. Our role is to provide best in class business support so veterinarians like him can focus on their communities and the care their neighbor’s trust.”
