Parent Company of Pet Age to be Acquired by GateHouse Media

GateHouse Media is based in Pittsford, New York and owns more than 500 newspapers in 31 states. It is a unit of New York City-based New Media Investment Group, a publicly traded company.
The deal is expected to close in late April or early May.
“This is a great opportunity for all of our brands under the JM umbrella,” said David Schankweiler, founder and CEO of Journal Multimedia. “I’m excited for the new opportunities for our readers and advertisers.”
Based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Journal Multimedia owns seven business units, including Pet Age. It also publishes NJBIZ, Lehigh Valley Business, the Central Penn Business Journal and Central Penn Parent and owns Best Companies Group and FGV Media.
