Michelson Found Animals Hosts Annual Gala to Honor Leaders in Animal Welfare

Michelson Found Animals recognized industry leaders for their efforts during its third annual gala on November 1, 2014.

Honorees included the Honorable Herb J. Wesson, Jr. (President, Los Angeles City Council), Erika Brunson (Founder, Coalition for Pets and Public Safety) and Rocky Kanaka (Founder, Dog for Dog). In addition, an award was given to surprise honorees, Andrew and Clara Yori, for their work to help spread information about the positive attributes of pit bull breeds.

The first place winner of the groundbreaking Michelson Found Animals Saving Pets Challenge, Santa Fe Animal Shelter was also honored for raising $130,615 to reduce shelter euthanasia in communities.

The gala brought together many prominent individuals in the animal welfare community including Los Angeles City Council members, members of Best Friends Animal Society, Los Angeles Animal Services and Animal Planet’s “My Cat from Hell” host Jackson Galaxy.

The evening’s entertainment included a special poetic presentation from Sekou Andrews that gave voice to Found Animals’ mission, impact and powerful story.
