ZIWI Partners with Christian Yelich, Pet Retailers to Support California Strong

Pet Food Company, ZIWI, stepped up to the plate this past July partnering with local Los Angeles pet retailers and donating a portion of proceeds to support local nonprofit organization, California Strong. 

Over the past year, ZIWI formed a partnership with Milwaukee Brewers right fielder Christian Yelich and his dog Cooper. They became fast fans of Yelich’s performance on the field as well as his performance off the field. 

Yelich, a ZIWI fan and proud California resident, helped co-found the nonprofit organization California Strong in response to several tragedies that affected the state in 2018. To date, California Strong has distributed more than $2.6 million to households throughout the state, with more than 1,400 families having received grants. California Strong was named California’s 2020 nonprofit of the year for their outstanding disaster victim relief efforts. 

Seeing all the work the organization was putting into assisting Californians in need, ZIWI was compelled to lend a helping hand. “At ZIWI, we strive to live by our New Zealand values of being guardians of the land, sea, and its creatures,” said ZIWI’s North American president, Mary Helen Horn. “Partnering with an organization like California Strong allows us to give back to our communities in a meaningful way that lets us put our values into action.” 

ZIWI’s efforts were well received by the organization. “Their (ZIWI’s) support of California Strong’s efforts in providing relief to California residents has been incredible,” said Yelich. “I value their work in providing a quality pet food for our pets and providing aid to our community.” 

Co-Founder, Ryan Braun, was equally as thankful. “We are incredibly grateful for ZIWI’s support which will contribute to our mission of supporting Californians in time of need,” In total, ZIWI donated more than $11,000 in funds to California Strong through their giving campaign.
