My dog, Vicki, adores these summer months, especially because it results in many journeys through the neighborhood wooded areas, where we explore the wild terrain and often encounter rabbits, groundhogs and deer. I’m usually the one who spots these wilderness creatures as Vicki is too wrapped up in her joy from getting to stretch her legs and climb the rocky terrain (I think she’s part mountain goat).

During one of our recent hikes, I captured a photo of her as she carried a Tucker’s dehydrated beef bone through the woods. Th is photo graces the title page of this month’s natural article, “Call of the Wild,” (p. 110) written by Eric Stenson. As I write this, she’s still enjoying that bone and trying to get to the marrow.

Although July means pet owners will be taking their beloved pets outdoors, which we cover in our Trends and Products coverage for dogs and cats, this is also the month for SuperZoo, presented by the World Pet Association. Th e Pet Age team will travel to Las Vegas, where we expect to off er unprecedented coverage of this year’s event, which runs from July 25-27, At the show, Pet Age will be delivering daily news reports, website updates and social media posts, including photo galleries and Facebook Live videos throughout each day of the expo. We will be interviewing trade show exhibitors, groomers and speakers, who will share their expertise with our readers.

Until then, our July issue contains more than 140 pages of content, including our cover story on four women visionaries who have changed the pet industry (p. 18). We also present profiles on Fromm Family Pet Food (p. 144), WellPet CEO Camelle Kent (p. 56), Utah pet store Th e Dog’s Meow (p. 6) and our 2017 Distributor of the Year award winner, General Pet Supply (p. 126). For the strategy-minded among you, this month features valuable wisdom from our Management contributors, such as how to benefit from social media (p. 8), why it’s important for retailers to play to their strengths (p. 10) and ways a groomer can assist clients with fearful dogs (p. 16).

Like SuperZoo, Pet Age aims to be your destination for all things pet related. And if you can make the trip, maybe we’ll see you in Las Vegas! Enjoy!
