Woof Gang Bakery, the nation’s leader in specialty pet retail and grooming, marks a significant business milestone this month with the company’s 10th anniversary in Central Florida.
The Orlando-based franchise company has 24 central Florida stores open and another six area stores under development. Woof Gang Bakery’s greatest market concentration is in Central Florida, and the national chain now boasts 130 stores across 14 states.
“We attribute our successful beginnings and remarkable growth to a solid foundation of business and community in Orlando,” said Paul Allen, Woof Gang Bakery president and CEO. “This market enthusiastically embraced our new pet industry concept that was innovative at the time. Our customers certainly influenced our decision to add pet grooming, a service that propelled our storefront concept even further.”
The company was founded by Orlando residents Paul and Cara Allen, who opened the first Woof Gang Bakery stores in South Florida in 2007. In 2009, corporate headquarters were relocated to Orlando as the company rapidly expanded throughout Florida and beyond.
In August 2009, the first central Florida Woof Gang Bakery opened at 5012 Dr. Phillips Blvd. in Orlando. This store also was the first in the company to offer professional pet grooming—a service that complements the retail side of the business and currently accounts for half of all systemwide revenue.
To commemorate 10 years in Orlando, the first local Woof Gang Bakery store will host a customer appreciation event on September 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Franchise owner Kay Hodgson will welcome guests and their four-legged friends with giveaways, refreshments for people and pets and an open house of the pet grooming spa.
