The American Kennel Club (AKC), the sole member of Smart Pet Technologies, LLC (SPT), has announced that the Link AKC smart collar was acquired by Wagz Inc. The Link AKC smart collar is a GPS-enabled dog collar that uses cutting-edge technology to help people stay connected to their dogs like never before, the company says.
SPT officially launched the Link AKC smart collar and app in May 2017, and soon after became a leading player in the rapidly growing pet technology market. CES recognized the product as a 2017 “Best of Innovation” in the Wearable Technologies category. SPT has valued the AKC’s more than 130 years of commitment to the health and well-being of dogs to enhance the bond between dogs and owners with this advanced piece of technology.
“The acquisition of SPT’s Link AKC smart collar by Wagz is an exciting step for the pet-loving community,” said AKC President and CEO Dennis Sprung. “The technology behind the Link AKC smart collar will help Wagz move closer to their goal of a completely connected pet lifestyle.”
“The addition of SPT’s Link AKC smart collar will help further our commitment to building a family of products that work together to cover the needs of dog owners,” said Terry Anderton, CEO of Wagz, Inc. “We are excited to see what the future has to offer for this product that was developed by a team of passionate dog lovers, tech experts and designers.”
