Wag N’ Wash Natural Food & Bakery, a full-line specialty retail and grooming center for cats and dogs, reported successful growth in 2017 and has plans for continued growth in 2018.

Recognized as being a one-stop-shop where pet guardians can “wash ’em, feed ’em and spoil ’em, all in one cool place, Wag N’ Wash opened four stores in 2017 and is on track to open at least four new locations in 2018. The new stores will be located in Monument, Colorado, Broomfield, Colorado, Redmond, Washington, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Between development deals that have already been signed and pending signings in the coming months, Wag N’ Wash hopes to open four to eight new stores across the country by the end of the year. There are currently 16 locations open and operating throughout Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, New Jersey, Maryland, Minnesota, Texas, Kentucky and Washington.

“Since launching our franchise opportunity in 2006, we have seen tremendous growth and anxiously look forward to carrying this momentum into 2018 and beyond,” said Jef Strauss, co-founder of Wag N’ Wash. “As we continue to expand our footprint nationally, our primary goal of providing unmatched support for our existing franchisees remains, while concentrating on our mission of enhancing the quality of life for companion pets and their guardians.”

Strauss attributes the increased interest in the franchise opportunity to the unique experience and concept that Wag N’ Wash provides to dogs, cats and even their humans.

Founded in 1999, Wag N’ Wash offers a community for pet enthusiasts to come, find quality goods and services for their pet companions, and simply be pet people. Among the store’s offerings are various brands of all-natural pet foods for dogs and cats, supplements, collars and leads, toys, supplies and unique goods. In addition, Wag N’ Wash’s do-it-yourself dog wash facility is designed to put convenience and fun into the “chore” of washing your dog. And of course, no trip to Wag N’ Wash would be complete without visiting the store’s in-house bakery, rare in the pet store market, which offers treats such as Liver Bites, Pumpkin Ravioli, and a variety of pies, cakes and muffins using human grade ingredients.

Expert nutritional staff is always available to help guests make the best food and treat choices; and all the while, furry friends are mingling throughout the store. Each store builds its own unique community for pets and pet enthusiasts with a focus on being locally owned and operated.

Each Wag N’ Wash store also actively supports local non-profits that share the company’s mission of enhancing the quality of life for companion pets and their guardians. In addition, Wag N’ Wash works with local rescue groups and has single-handedly been responsible for the adoption of more than 2,100 cats and dogs through its adoption fairs.

“Along with our focus on all-natural pet food, treats, supplements and various unique products, Wag N’ Wash also focuses on maintaining a first-class franchise that provides support to each and every franchisee,” Strauss said. “As we continue to expand, I see more and more new faces—human and animal alike—come into our stores, and the excitement they express is authentic. More than just the success of our locations, we are so proud to provide a unique and positive service to our communities that people need and love.”

The average investment to own and operate a Wag N’ Wash 3,500-4,200-square-foot store is approximately $638,420. This includes the franchise fee of $40,000, build-out costs, training expenses, the first three months of rent, furniture, signage, computer equipment, inventory and supplies, initial advertising and grand opening costs. Three- and five-unit agreements are also available to select and qualifying candidates.
