Press release: Sancho & Lola’s Closet
Founded in 2015 in Lewisville, Texas by Lynette Cano to support local shelters and rescues, Sancho & Lola’s Closet was inspired by her two rescued German Pointers. All of their doggie stuff is kept in a designated closet. She and her husband Juan adopted Sancho in 2011 and Lola in 2014. In 2016, co-founder Laura Raymond came on board to take operations to the next level.
By 2017, Sancho & Lola’s products sold via Amazon, Chewy and its own website. Despite bootstrapping the business and working with commodities that have limited supply, the business grew quickly. By offering the highest-quality bully sticks, dog treats and toys, and giving back to dog rescues, Sancho & Lola’s Closet really resonated with consumers.
In 2020, COVID and global supply chain challenges affected everyone, and Sancho & Lola’s Closet was no exception. Operations were moved to Nebraska to be closer to supply chains but managing the business remotely was challenging.
Thus, in January, this Texas company run by Texas Latinas decided to relocate the business back to Denton Texas. Since the inception of the business was never celebrated, Sancho & Lola’s Closet held its Grand Re-Opening, Ribbon Cutting, Lunch and Smokehaus treats product launch on August 31.
“It all started in Denton County, owners and employees live in Denton County, and we are proud to support Little Elm-based Rescue Row, a 501(c)3 all-volunteer dog rescue organization serving the DFW Metroplex,” said founder Cano. “We are also partnering with American Eagle Harley-Davidson and Hogs 4 Paws as well as supporting the Denton Parks Foundation by participating in Dog Days of Denton.”
