PIJAC has hired Robert Likins as the new director of Government Affairs .

Likins has over 24 years of experience in the United States Army, serving as legislative Liaison in the US Army Office of the Chief of Legislative Liaison in Washington.

“We are excited to have Bob join PIJAC, he brings an incredible work ethic along with the perspective of a lifelong pet owner who has had to deal with widely varying pet legislation as he moved from duty station to duty station while in the military,” said Ken Oh, chairman of PIJAC. “Bob’s knowledge and experience permit him to speak with authority whether he’s in Washington or in communities across the country.  He brings new ideas and a fresh perspective to PIJAC and we look forward to working with him for years to come”

Likin’s work included strategic planning for the Army’s interaction with Congress as well as managing the $1.6B Soldier Systems portfolio. He facilitated Congressional oversight of these programs by interacting with industry representatives, Members of Congress and Congressional staff.

“Pet ownership has been such a rewarding part of my life that I am excited to have the opportunity to work with PIJAC to safeguard that opportunity for everyone,” said Likins. “With 82.5 million American families owning a pet of some type, it is important to ensure that our available choices in pets continue to be as diverse as we are.”
