The business grew from a chance meeting with a bird, when Novak, a computer programmer, was introduced to a co-worker’s talking parrot. Soon, Bob’s enchantment led to owning several pet birds. The passion led to opening a bird specialty store in Bayshore, New York, the genesis of the Pets Warehouse superstores. Today, his Pet Warehouse chain includes five retail stores and an online catalog with products and services for birds, dogs, cats, fish, reptiles and other pets.
