Food Safety is Serious Business – Are You Ready?
Pet food and treats are among the most highly regulated food products in the United States at both the federal and state levels, from safety requirements to label claims. What do pet food and treat makers need to know about their obligations? Cathleen Enright, PhD, president and CEO of the Pet Food Institute (PFI), will provide an overview of pet food’s regulatory landscape to help ensure companies are aware of new requirements in place to make safe pet food products for all of America’s pets. PFI is the national trade association of U.S. pet food and treat makers, and its members account for 98 percent of all pet food and treats produced in the United States.
9:30am – 10:15am
Todd Maute, Partner at CBX, a brand and design agency
Technology companies like Amazon, Google and Facebook are increasingly changing how we all interact with and shop brands. While the retail industry has been one of the most visibly and dramatically disrupted industries, there is no more opportune of a time for brands to evolve how they produce, merchandise and market. One of the most crucial and obvious ways for brands to address this new landscape? Private label.
Todd Maute, partner at brand and design agency CBX and a veteran of the private label products industry, believes that our current digitally-inclined, rapidly changing shopping landscape is allowing private label to go beyond its traditionally ‘product-first’ approach. As brands come to terms with the new purpose and values-driven mindset of the consumer, Todd proposes that if private label is approached as a marketing and media tool, pet product specialty and mass retailers can differentiate from their competitors and develop richer connections with their consumers. In his presentation, Todd will identify the different ways all brands can survive and thrive through a private label lens, and discuss how retailers and private label manufacturers can work together to make their brands succeed
