Press release: Pet Pantry Warehouse

In an effort to meet the community’s needs during the COVID-19 health crisis, Pet Pantry Warehouse has partnered with many of its premium pet food brands to offer Pet One Member discounts to all customers in addition to raising money through sales for local COVID-19 relief funds. Brands include Bravo, Bixbi, Champion (Orijen/Acana), Earth Animal, Earthborn, Triumph, Farmina, Koha, Greenies, Merrick, Nature’s Variety, Open Farm, Petcurean (Go!/Now!), Primal, Rawz, Raised Right, Stella & Chewy’s, Sustainably Yours, Wellpet and Ziwipeak.

Hundreds of Pet Pantry items are now on sale. Sale prices are pre-programmed and already reflected in the retail prices visible on the online ordering site and in the Pet Pantry point of sale system. “Every time a customer purchases a bag of food, treats or supplies on sale from a participating brand, that company will be matching the discount amount and making a contribution in ‘Donatable Dollars.’ This is a win-win for everyone. Our customers get to shop hundreds of items on sale, receive discounts on the items purchased and help us donate within their community,” said Adam Jacobson, Pet Pantry Warehouse executive vice president.

Last month Pet Pantry transitioned its brick-and-mortar in-store sales model to a curbside pick system through phone orders and just recently the pet supply retailer launched an all-new online sales platform. The family business, celebrating 75 years serving the community, was designated an “essential” business by New York and Connecticut state in March.

“We are working to meet the wide-ranging dietary needs of pets throughout the communities we serve,” said Jacobson. He continued, “Our customers in Westchester and Fairfield County can now order online, and we’ll bring the order to their car to maintain social distancing guidelines. Our staff is also adhering to the split schedule protocols used at other essential businesses and hospitals wherever possible.” Jacobson noted that many animals are working overtime to provide emotional support during the COVID-19 crisis and that serving the needs of the animal community as well as the greater communities at large were keeping the Pet Pantry team motivated.

Among the various relief funds that will receive money through this campaign is the Greenwich United Way, New Canaan Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund Al’s Angels, Operation Hope, United Way of Westchester and Putnam, United Way of Coastal Fairfield County. Jacobson is in the process of reaching out to other organizations in Fairfield (Connecticut) and Westchester (New York) counties.

“The Greenwich United Way is very fortunate to have been asked to partner with Pet Pantry Warehouse and be a beneficiary of their ‘Donatable Dollars’ program. Pet Pantry has been an outstanding community partner for many years in all the towns they serve. Pet Pantry’s commitment to its customers (both humans and pets) and their communities is a beacon for all businesses to follow to help the most vulnerable of Greenwich during these uncertain times.” David Rabin, CEO at Greenwich United Way.

Jacobson is strongly urging consumers to shop locally during this time and support local businesses by sharing information through email, social media and word of mouth. “Our entire PPW team has been working tirelessly. We have basically had to restructure our entire business in a matter of days. I cannot thank my team enough for the selflessness they have shown during this time,” said Jacobson.

During this critical time, the Pet Pantry team understands the need for pet foster homes and is working with Petcurean to help those opening their homes to new animals during this uncertain time. In an effort to provide quality food for temporary and/or new four-legged family members, Pet Pantry has already donated 50 “Welcome Waggin Kits” to Pet Rescue NY. These kits will be given to anyone who chooses to adopt or foster during the health crisis. Each kit includes a free 3 pound/3.5 pound (or 4 pound/6 pound) bag coupon; buy one, get one free wet food coupon; $5 off next purchase coupon; pet emergency sticker; Pet Pantry Welcome Letter and a Pet Pantry 20% off everything coupon.

“We are so pleased to support this initiative from our great partner, Pet Pantry Warehouse, during this extraordinary time,” says Christine Mallier, community relations manager at Petcurean. “Giving back and supporting our communities in need is at the foundation of Petcurean’s mission to put pets first, and for more than 20 years we’ve been helping pets and pet parents, whenever and wherever we possibly can.”

Also running throughout the year on a monthly basis, Pantry Warehouse is hosting a photo contest through its social media platforms (@ppwpet). Each month a member of the Pet Pantry Executive team is selecting a winner to receive a $75 PPW gift card. No cost to enter and the giveaway is not affiliated with any of its social media platforms.
